		<description>

Creative direction, art consulting and research in the field of art and culture.

	The cultural agency led by Christian Herren combines extensive experience in conceptualization, production, and communication with a broad service portfolio at the intersection of creative direction, curation, and research. References include projects such as the most comprehensive exhibition of Swiss design in China to date (Swiss Design Classics, 2024), curated by the agency on behalf of the Swiss Confederation, the conceptualization and management of the exhibition Liaisons Suisses at the Swiss Embassy in Paris during the 2024 Olympic Games, and scholarly contributions for institutions like the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (Dürer and Beyond).

The agency's extensive experience and international network make it a valuable partner for companies, institutions, and private clients. In collaboration with a diverse team, it offers tailor-made consulting and support in the development and realization of cultural and artistic projects, exhibitions, and events.

	Christian's resume is as versatile as his projects: from training as a senior specialist in artists' prints and books at an auction house to international studies in art history, design, and fine arts, and extensive experience in management and agency work. This interdisciplinary expertise is reflected in his projects, which combine scholarly precision with creative vision and structured execution.

The Swiss Design Classics exhibition is a milestone in cultural exchange between Switzerland and China, celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Curated by Christian Herren, it showcases more than 150 original design objects spanning 400 years, making it the most extensive Swiss design&#38;nbsp;exhibition ever shown in China. Highlights include the vibrant red wall cabinet by Trix and Robert Haussmann, which humorously challenges traditional design&#38;nbsp;concepts.The exhibition is divided into six thematic chapters: iconic furniture, groundbreaking innovations, Swiss tourism posters, 400 years of stools, a special exhibition on Max Bill, and The Most Beautiful Swiss Books.

The exhibition not only provides insight into the history of Swiss design but also fosters cultural dialogue. Contributions by Laure Gremion and Catherine De Wolf demonstrate how creative exchanges between Swiss and Chinese designers inspire innovative and sustainable design solutions. Swiss Design Classics will be on&#38;nbsp;view at the Today Art Museum in Beijing until January 12, 2025, before traveling to other major Chinese cities.We extend our gratitude to our sponsors and key partners, especially the Swiss Embassy in China. Special thanks go to Juri Mischler, the initiator of the project, as well as Tahani Pestalozzi and Congcong Che. We also thank all participating designers, lenders, and key partners: the Federal Office for Buildings and Logistics,&#38;nbsp;USM, Switzerland Tourism, and the Museum für Gestaltung, which provided iconic tourism posters for the exhibition. The traveling exhibition Swiss Design Classics&#38;nbsp;was initiated and significantly supported by the Swiss Embassy in China in celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and China&#38;nbsp;in 2025.

The agency curated the "Liaisons Suisses" exhibition for the House of Switzerland/Switzerland Tourism in the garden of the Swiss Embassy in Paris. Until the end of September 2024, 45 unique objects from five centuries of Swiss history await visitors: the X-ray machine of Saint-Exupéry, who studied in Fribourg, a folk mask from Valais exhibited at the 1937 World Fair and the necklace of the Lucerne gallery owner Angela Rosengart, immortalised by Pablo Picasso. The evening gown worn by Ursula Andress in the first James Bond film, a very early “Traccia” table by Meret Oppenheim and a sculpture by Valentin Carron are also on display. The structure of the exhibition pavilion, consisting of the iconic USM Haller modular furniture system and the Graubünden stone floor by Truffer AG, which can also be found in front of the Federal Parliament, offers unique insights and views.Opening hoursFrom 24 July to 11 August 2024, during the Olympic GamesMon - Sun, 11 am - 11 pm.

The artist Urs Burki (*1945-2017)
Chaos und Ordnung
Works from 1973 to 2016
VEXER. Verlag, St. Gallen/Berlin
560 pages, thread-stitching, booklet with free spine, coloured page edges
ISBN: 978-30-909090-86-0

"A wonderful book! This book covering the artistic work of Urs Burki was another highlight among the books presented at the I Never Read, Art Book Fair, which was held during Art Basel 2017 at the Kaserne Centre and drew an international audience. The book made a profound impression on visitors to the fair. Its unusual design meant it also struck a chord with young graphic designers. Several important booksellers from abroad ordered copies of the book on Urs Burki while at the fair."- Josef Felix Müller, President Visarte, artist and publisherOver the past two years, Herren has worked with graphic artist Anatole Comte to develop the concept for a book. The result is a book about the artist that offers a broad insight into Urs Burki’s extensive creative output from four different perspectives.The book is therefore a multi-dimensional collage, offering insights into the rich work of the artist from four points of view. Six different subject areas, which can be identified even from the cover, form the guiding pillars of the book. The hand-crafted design used to transfer the work to paper, and its production using a process-driven, additive procedure, provide a worthy framework for the artist's oeuvre, set out over 560 pages.

Using Urs Burki's working collages as a starting point, the publication and its design presents a lively selection of his life's work. Individual pages are composed of the artist's hand-written notes, collected prints and texts by Burki printed on slides. Only the works themselves, as constants, have been digitally set on the page. The basic layout and the fonts used, for example, are both derived from Urs Burki’s working practices. The artist's wife has also made a major contribution to the book, having penned both a hand-written personal tribute and the captions for the pictures. Accompanying texts by individuals including Claude Hubert Tatot, HEAD Geneva and the writer Robert Inard d’Argence complete the publication.

		<description>My piece of Switzerland: The Swiss Parliament has voted
In partnership with Presence Switzerland (FDFA), the cultural agency developed a special vending machine that was set up in the Swiss capital, Bern, for three months. The campaign has received media coverage in Switzerland and abroad. &#38;nbsp;The project was developed in collaboration with Vincent Sterchi (project management), Roman Sterchi (communication) and Pascal Schärli (graphic design).

&#60;img width="2520" height="1548" width_o="2520" height_o="1548" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/c6fdb5e10d7488bea3ff05cdf32c8722d46cc418f7e644bc16e671c3918590fa/Swiss-Parliament--Parlement-Suisse--Schweizer-Parlament-1.jpg" data-mid="151840987" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/c6fdb5e10d7488bea3ff05cdf32c8722d46cc418f7e644bc16e671c3918590fa/Swiss-Parliament--Parlement-Suisse--Schweizer-Parlament-1.jpg" /&#62;

With the aim of reflecting the essence of Switzerland, National Councillors and Councillors of States selected their very own "piece of Switzerland", a limited number of which could be purchased in the vending machine. In collaboration with Levin Dennler, Christian Herren conceived and organised the entire project, including the product packaging, scenography and marketing. The project grabbed the attention of tens of thousands of visitors, and international and national media reported on the unique campaign.

Conception and realisation of a major design exhibition in collaboration with Daan Couzijn (curation) and Johnny Graf (graphic design). Accompanying activities: concept, text and design of various communication media and organisation of an event with over 100 people.

In collaboration with teo jakob, curators Christian Herren and Daan Couzijn presented an exhibition of early designs by Swiss designers from 1927 to 2024 at the artgenève 2024 art fair. Classics such as the 'Traccia' table by Meret Oppenheim (designed when she was 25) and the 'Luna' lamp by Alfred Hablützel (designed when he was 26) were juxtaposed with contemporary works by young designers. The special exhibition was artistically framed by the art series 'Press Art'. Every week during 1972, a different artist designed a page for the Basler Zeitung. These 52 pages are a reflection of the times; they are works by young artists, some forgotten today, some world-famous - Ben Vautier wrote the famous sentence on his contribution: “Don't throw away this newspaper, because its entire content is art”.
