Christian Herren

Young design at artgenève

Conception and realisation of a major design exhibition in collaboration with Daan Couzijn (curation) and Johnny Graf (graphic design). Accompanying activities: concept, text and design of various communication media and organisation of an event with over 100 people.

In collaboration with teo jakob, curators Christian Herren and Daan Couzijn presented an exhibition of early designs by Swiss designers from 1927 to 2024 at the artgenève 2024 art fair. Classics such as the 'Traccia' table by Meret Oppenheim (designed when she was 25) and the 'Luna' lamp by Alfred Hablützel (designed when he was 26) were juxtaposed with contemporary works by young designers. The special exhibition was artistically framed by the art series 'Press Art'. Every week during 1972, a different artist designed a page for the Basler Zeitung. These 52 pages are a reflection of the times; they are works by young artists, some forgotten today, some world-famous - Ben Vautier wrote the famous sentence on his contribution: “Don't throw away this newspaper, because its entire content is art”.
